This is a glorified whistle. Not even close to a "California" or "Mountain Quail." I have large coveys in that march through my yard everyday and as much as I practiced trying to imitate I only succeeded in scaring them off. Two clothes and a rubber band acytually does work

Guess it is okay but bought for husband to quail hunt in Arizona and it is the wrong kind for here.

Go to call. Easy to use finger hole. Works well cupping in one hand. Works in S Ca just fine

Bought as an unusual whistle for a 2 yr. old grandchild because why should they have useless toys. He is enjoying it.
