4.0 out of 5 stars  Ok strikers, slate is nice.

My friend has a nice custom slate and caller which sound excellent. This sounds pretty good for what I paid, and tends to make pretty consistent sounds if you keep the strike area consistent. The strikers are alright, the plastic handled wood piece with the broader tip seems to sound the best, but I still opted to buy a nicer one-piece wooden striker, and it works and sounds much better. I don't know if there's an option to buy the slate on its own for a lower cost and buy a nicer striker but if it is, that would be the way I suggest. If you don't want to take on the task of picking a new striker this one will do you fine though.

Best sounding slate call I've ever used. My 10 year old daughter makes it sound awesome. Just bought a couple more for my dad and brother.
